Help! The Black Cartridge in my Printer won't Work?

I have an Epson NX415, and I just got new ink cartridges for it. It prints the red, blue, and yellow (or whatever weird colors they call them) but not black. Any solutions? I've tried everything I know how to do (which isn't a lot).

Pull the cartridge out, take a q-tip and soak it in alcohol and clean of the area that makes contact into the print cartridge. I've had these dry up before with ink and block new ink from coming in. After you've cleaned it off, put the cartridge right back in and run the print head cleaning utility, then print out some test sheets.
